Getting to know the DIBB

May or October
Hi Guys. Just looking for some thoughts! We have always gone to Florida in May normally the last 3 weeks. This has always been perfect for us, lovely and hot spending the day in shorts and plenty warm enough to enjoy the water parks (which is important to us). However, the local secondary school have put an extra week onto the October half term and since our eldest is now at secondary we might try to avoid taking him out of school - so in summary looking now at 14th Oct to 29th Oct. My question to all you fellow dibbers is has anyone done both times of year to get a feel for the weather, how busy, just your general thoughts and preference? We've done May twice and it is very very predicatable. Looking at past weather forecasts October looks just a fraction cooler than May, but some website saying take trousers etc (which wouldn't be our cup of tea). Any thoughts welcome - thanks!

Both are great times to go and we just prefer October due to it not being as humid and have been 18 times and never needed to wear trousers in October

Hi ,We've been four times in early May and this year tried October for the first time (15th-29th) found it very similar to May with ride wait times etc. ,Parks took slightly more planning to avoid the Halloween nights at MK and Universal. The weather was fractionally cooler but still shorts and T shirts everyday apart from 2 evenings where we needed a fleece/jumper after about 7pm. Wouldn't hesitate to book October again.

We love October been every October for last 7 years! Usually 80 degrees and virtually no rain. Crowds v manageable. Do use a crowd predictor like touring plans to pick park days as they do fluctuate due to mnsshp e.g. Me can be 8/10 some days 3/10 others. Mk beautifully decorated for Halloween. We did May half term and October this year, may was busier and hotter. Food and wine Epcot again just avoid weekend.

Shorts and t shirts for us always. Water parks too - they are quieter/lots of brits. Take a hoodie in case cooler in evening- we didn't use them though.

We did first 2 weeks in October 2015, but I couldn't wait 2 years, so we're going back last 2 weeks in May 2017. From what I've heard it's fairly similar from a weather / business point of view. At least, that's what I'm hoping - as early Oct 15 was fab.

We went May 2012 and found it very wet, more so that August. I also had a fleece some nights. For us there was no advantage to May.
Fancied all the Halloween theme for a change so its Oct 17 for us. Will be nice to see the parks with different parades and decor.

We have done both and prefer October. Have never needed trousers - the only time I've ever needed an extra layer is maybe a cardi due to the air con in restaurants!
I prefer the Halloween theme, the weather, no need to deal with memorial day crowds... basically October wins for us |

October is arguably the best weather month in Florida as long as the very rare Hurricane doesn't appear.
