Vegetarian child

Afternoon all,

So my sister, brother in law and niece are looking at going to WDW next year (hopefully when all this is over) looking at staying at a moderate with QSDP or DDP should there be a free DP offer on the table (pun slightly intended)

My Niece will be 4 and a half years old and like her parents is a vegetarian. problem is looking at the menu's on the official website there are NO Vegetarian kids meals, and I know that you cannot use a kids QSDP or DDP credit against an adult meal. So I am a little concerned with what she will be able to eat. like most little ones she doesn't like salads or rice bowls particularly and I am just worried that there won't be enough options to satisfy her, and I don't want it being something my sister would stress over while on holiday.

So I guess my 2 questions really are firstly; are there more options for her than I am aware of? and has anyone had any experience with a veggie child at WDW? and secondly is it then worth getting the dining plan if there would be a limited number/ possibly nothing veggie that she could eat?

As always I am only looking for guidance here, not anyone to 'make up our minds for us' but drawing on others knowledge and past experiences are very helpful TIA.

I found this quite difficult to believe so I just looked at the menus for a few randomly chosen QS locations: BOG (MK), Sat'uli canteen (AK), Blaze pizza (DS) and Woody's lunchbox (HS) and all had a veggie option for a child (at least one) with options ranging from Mac and cheese, veggie stir-fry bowl, veggie quesadilla, grilles cheese sandwich, veggie pizza etc etc. Where did you look that you couldn't see anything veggie for kids?
If they do upgrade to DDP there will be loads of places that do pizza or pasta and lots of buffets which will have a lot of veggie options.

I was looking on the Disney website as mentioned prior, things like regal eagle don't even have a cheese sandwich or mac & cheese for kids. it all seemed to be with chicken, beef or shrimp. like Katsura grill, lotus blossom cafe and a whole host of others. I just think it would be nice to do a plant based kids meal option at places too, like they do for the adults otherwise she's just going to be living off of macaroni cheese and pizza the entire holiday.

I never saw any veggie quesadillas for children, So I would be interested to know where that one was just as another option. perhaps I was just unlucky with the selection of restaurants they would like to eat at, I think I expected every restaurant to have at least one veggie kids option which they don't. so it means it's going to limit where they can eat and the variety of what my Niece can eat.

So let me amend my previous statement to this: 'there are not many veggie options for children within WDW.' of course it would be more ideal for them to upgrade to DDP, however this is dependent on cost more than anything. I was just hoping that what with WDW making leaps and bounds with the Vegan side of things for the adults, that they would offer the same kind of thing for children. even though she's not a vegan she does eat things like Tofu and 'meatless' products at home.

If they're going to be on the quick service plan, it may be worth thinking of an upgrade for an adult ticket for her, which would give them adult quick service credits for her to use - and access to the many vegetarian quick service adult options.
The children option are more limited, and even more so when looking at plant-based options. My daughter enjoyed the cheese quesadilla at Satuli Canteen and macaroni cheese (snack credit) at eight spoon cafe, but overall probably did have more adult vegetarian food than child meals (the choice of which I thought was rather poor).

For quick serve options, in most restaurants the Uncrustables meal or sometimes the Mac N Cheese would be the only vegetarian option that isn't a salad.

Satuli Canteen do the nice rice bowl with tofu for kids too - but for my 3-year-old, that was way too adventurous.

There definitely aren't as many plant based options for kids as for adults - they'll need to take a close look at the menus of all places they plan to visit to see if it has anything suitable.

I'd advise to check out Vegan Disney World on socials/youtube as they have a small child and they usually mention what he's eating.

I have just gone to Disney site, to the all restaurants page and looked at the menus of the first ten or so QS locations. All but one had at least one child’s vegetarian meal, a couple had two options. I saw things like mac n cheese, grilled cheese, vegetarian quesadilla, vegetarian pasta, vegetarian pizza etc.

An option could be to upgrade to an adult ticket, although if they wanted to pay to upgrade to DDP from the free QSDP, this would then cost a lot more.

My son is vegetarian and he managed to eat quite well at Disney World. There is a great link on Disney’s website for plant based food. At some of the Quick Service and restaurants places you can ask for modifications or ask if there is an off-menu vegetarian alternative.

They had the beyond burgers at some of the quick service places, but not shown on the menu. The restaurants are great at doing a veggie alternative, especially for the family style restaurants, they will bring a vegetarian option.

My son didn’t want to eat the Satuli veggie option, so I got him a pizza at the other QS pizza place and brought it to the Satuli canteen, whilst my DH was ordering for him and I.

My daughter was a fussy vegetarian when we last done disney. There are loads of options. Sometimes it did mean visiting 2 different QS places just to make sure she was getting variety. Table service have way more options. Also we hardly used dining credits for our young niece when she went with us. We usually just gave her part of our meal and saved her credits for extra meals and breakfasts.

Disney will often do a child's version of a adults meal too if you ask
