Thanks for the help, we are thinking of staying in LIC so we can park up there and head into Manhattan. Been to Boston and Salem so will give them a miss but considering Martha’s vineyard area.

Probably about 20 years ago we went to Toronto and visited a national park called Algonquin and stayed in a log cabin (Killarney Lodge) and it was amazing, hopefully it hasn't changed too much. Each cabin had its own kayak 😁

Montreal is a bigger city. There is the 6 Flags, Science museum, the Biodome, botanical gardens, Olympic stadium ...
QC is more doable on foot. It is older and there is the Citadel, and just outside the city the Montmoncery Falls. If you like swimming and water, there are lots of lakes and it is easy enough to find cabins with your own water access. We loved this!

Montreal is excellent. Really loved it there. Mix of old and new and really nice feel to it. lots to see and do. I recommend the Jet Boating on the Lachine rapids - it was insane!
Ottawa also worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood. Blue Mountain resort outside Toronto (maybe 1.5 hours) was a great place to relax for a couple of days.

I've not been to Toronto but I notice a lot of people have mentioned Quebec. We went to Quebec in August this year. We stayed in Quebec City and Chicoutimi in Saguenay. I absolutely loved both places and it was my favourite holiday destination ever. We did Montmorency falls and Canyon Saint Ann whilst in Quebec City also there was plenty going on in Quebec City from lovely walks and the citadel to lots of random street entertainment and a funicular railway. It felt very clean and very safe without the crowds of a normal city holiday. There is a fjord at Saguenay which was lovey we did a few hikes and went on a boat trip. We would have loved to have gone whale watching but due to time constraints we will have to do that another time.

They are both very different. Definitely more to do at Montreal (we got the pass
getyourguide/montr...icket-t223236/) Quebec City itself is lovely, but not a great deal to occupy your boys. However, there are places further afield you could go to. We only did Montmorency Falls. |

Quebec City is a favorite Canandian city of ours (helps that it's only a few hours away), We like Montreal but it doesn't have the same character as Quebec City. We also vacationed in New Brunswick often. It's a beautiful provence with lots to do. We loved the Hopewell Roicks and the kids enjoyed many days on Grand Manan. We whale watched from Grand Manan and it was excellent (we often did a whale watch out of Boston or from Provincetown)MY son, who is a birder, tried three times toget on Machias Seal Island to see the puffins but the trip was cancelled every time.
I love canada. It is a beautiful country with warm and welcoming people. Edited at 11:50 PM. |
