It's doable as others have said. We did 20 nights for our honeymoon and covered:
San Fran - 3 nights
Yosemite-2 nights
Death Valley -1 night
Las Vegas - 5 nights
Grand Canyon-1night
Lake havasu - 1 night
Palm Springs 3 nights
LA - 4 nights
To do it in 16 nights I'd cut out driving to the Grand Canyon, lake havasu and Palm Springs.

we have done a few similar trips although always done 3 weeks
would recommend:
fly into SF 3 days
drive to Yosemite (5 is hours) I would do 3 nights as that gives you 2 full days
drive to LV will be a long drive but doable if Tioga pass open - we did drive LA-LV-mammoth and then onto Yosemite
LV 3/4 days depending on what you want to do there, beauty of having a car is being able to easily to a trip to the hoover dam etc
LA - 4/5 days if you want to do LA stuff as well as disneyland (we love disneyland and far prefer it it WDW - first trip we did 2 nights, second was 3 nights and 3rd was 4 nights! I would highly recommend the grand californian hotel - its pricey but right on the park with its own access to the grand cali park so easy to pop back and a lovely pool and restaurant (Napa Rose)
Enjoy the planning!
