We Love Food - Day 5 - Tue 17th May 2022 - Kilwins, Olive Garden

We Love Food - An offsite dining report - May 2022

Day 5 - Tuesday 17th May 2022

Villa breakfast, Kilwins, Villa lunch, Olive Garden

Villa Breakfast

We had breakfast at the villa this morning before heading out. Using up more of our Publix/Walmart supplies, we had coffee, juice, muffins, toast and fruit. We really enjoyed these breakfasts out on the lanai in the warm morning air. It was very peaceful out here in the mornings, listening to the birds waking up.

Kilwins, Celebration

We went to Celebration this morning, and before taking a walk there we decided to cool down with an ice cream from Kilwins. Neil chose mint chocolate chip, and I had dulce de leche - they were both delicious, and the small tubs we had were more than enough $11.93.

Villa Lunch

When we came home from Celebration we had a light lunch of sandwiches and crisps. Neil had a few beers as well, and decided to use a twizzler as a straw!

Olive Garden, Osceola Polk Line

Later on, we decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner, so after freshening up, we set off with me driving. We were going to the one next to the new Longhorns that we had eaten at the other day and I was determined to find the car park first time, and not make the same mistakes again.

Our server, Sam, was so lovely and we had soon ordered our drinks. Angry Orchard cider for Neil (he later had a 2nd while waiting for me to finish eating), and Coke for me. As always at Olive Garden, all main courses come with unlimited breadsticks and soup or salad. We both chose minestrone soup (one bowl each was enough although it was lovely), and the breadsticks were just as amazing as we remembered.

For mains, Neil chose Chicken Parmigiana (a classic with our homemade marinara and a side of spaghetti). He said this was really good.

I had the Grilled Chicken Margherita (topped with freshly chopped tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto and lemon garlic sauce, served with parmesan garlic broccoli). This was so good, really fresh tasting.

We were too full for a dessert right now, but we love the Italian Doughnuts from here, so since we had a coupon for a free dessert we took it "to go". We couldn't decide on the raspberry or chocolate sauce, so our lovely server Sam gave us both. We enjoyed these much later in the evening back at the villa with some drinks.

This meal didn't let us down, and nor did the service here. Well worth the $56.06 + tip.

Total food/drinks spend today $67.99 + tip

This all looks so lovely. Your choices are right up my street. Also offering me comfort around food costs after all the recent talk of $300 a day on food 🙀 Enjoy your holiday

We've never been to an Olive Garden. I like the look of your chicken, but I love chicken parmigiana it's something we now have at home too. Those donuts look delicious.

It as all really nice. I'm glad the food costs are helping you. I suppose it depends how many people you're feeding, but for the 2 of us we didn't find it much more expensive than our last trip in 2019. We very rarely went over $100 a day and had many days where we were much, much less than that. Getting some bits from the supermarket for breakfast and light lunches helped as well.

You must try Olive Garden, Abby - it really is good. The breadsticks are amazing . The Italian donuts are a really nice dessert choice.

It really does help. Even though the supermarkets are more expensive, having a few light bits around is still cheaper than eating out all the time.

Olive Garden was great - I was so jealous of you having the chocolate lasagne cake when you went as that’s what I wanted! 😂
