Changes to Disney escape weddings

Just found out yesterday that if your wanting to hold a Disney escape wedding and want to host a dessert party and/or private lunch through Disney event planning then you now need to spend a minimum of $7500 on the day, this includes the escape package and any other extras. Were going to have to cancel our meal at the swan and dolphin and rebook with Disney in order to meet the minimum, but overall I think we will spend the same amount overall.

Hope this is helpful!

That's a bit cheeky! I don't think I'm affected as I'm just getting a normal ADR for dinner for our wedding party! Thank God! Just when some people are getting everything planned and in order budget wise, they are now being told they have to spend more money to get what they want! Thanks for the update!

I know I'm really unimpressed, especially as I had to ask my planner as she had not updated me!

We really wanted a dessert party from the beginning (and now so do both sets of parents!) so were just going to go with it and meet the minimums. Really annoying though as I am only 6 weeks away from booking the wedding!

Thanks for that

If you don't want a desert party and/or private lunch what is the minimum spend? What do the extras include, video? transport? characters etc?

Also not meaning to sound thick but what do they class as a private lunch? I.e. not eating normally at a restaurant?

Hi Nic if your not planning a private lunch or a dessert party you have nothing to worry about you just book the normal Escape package and can choose to add extras (or not) as you please.

A private lunch reception is an event organised through the wedding department, were hoping to have ours at the attic at the boardwalk resort and then a dessert party in Epcot.

If you want to have your meal in arestaurant you just need to make an ADR, and do any special requests direct with the restaurant. Your planner can also book your ADR.

Hope this is helpful!

Sorry i've also sent you a PM, i feel like i've got so many questions, it all seems so overwhelming

If you book a normal ADR in a restaurant do you think you would be able to wear your wedding outfits or would you be better off considering the private dining?

Thanks again xxx

I hope there's no restrictions on wearing wedding attire for an ADR! That's my plan! Yachtsmans Steakhouse!

You can totally eat at a restaurant in your wedding outfit, lots of brides do and lots have private areas too.

Don't worry about the questions they are the same ones I have been asking for the last year! I have replied to your pm :-)

also forgot to mention the good thing with the new escape rules is that you book a private reception and dessert party at 8 months now instead of 6 (the old rule), so in 6 weeks it should all be booked yeahy!
