Call volume on iPhone SE

Hi,

I have an iPhone SE for work. I think I got it new but not sure.
When I’m on a call I can hardly hear the caller. They sound really far away.
It’s fine on speaker and through the car.
I’ve had a look in the settings and online but can’t see a solution.
Does anyone know of what I could try.

If pressing the volume up button repeatedly whilst on a call is not increasing the volume then try the solutions here

Sandra, you haven’t still got the protective plastic on the screen have you? This happened to me with my IPhone 11 and it turned out the protector was covering the speaker x

Yes! I have just tried calling someone and it’s fine.
Can’t believe I never thought of this!
