We are due to go the 3rd October , I called my travel company Friday to see if they had heard anything from Virgin and I was told at this moment in time, you are due to go try again the middle of Sept for an update. Truthfully I just think it’s the airlines trying to hold on to your cash for as long as possible before they have to refund you, I don’t even think the US will be open to us by Easter.

I said at the very start of this I expected to be going back December 2021. I’ll stick by that, I expect it open November.

I honestly don't know any more, I really thought that things would open up quickly after vaccines were rolled out, how wrong was I?

But it can't be forever, no pandemic has ever lasted, even the bubonic plague was only a few years!

I'm feeling 50/50 about my Easter trip.

Although I hadn’t accounted for a Joe Biden isolationist policy against science. I think it would have been about right if it was down to the virus situation alone.

Unfortunately I dont think it is even on Joe Bidens radar at the moment - so unless our FCO puts some pressure on then it may be a very long slog but I am hoping for Christmas and NYE in CA - hotel reserved on a no deposit unitil 28 days in PS and will use a voucher to grab a flight the second the green light is shown

Just curious...given the poor manner in which the US (in general) and Florida (in particular) has managed Covid - why would anyone outside our borders rush to come here?

I get the draw of Disney, I really do...but is dealing with some [fellow] Americans and their reckless disregard for public safety worth the risk? "Its our American right to refuse to protect ourselves from the virus after all...Jesus and our guns will protect us!"... why would anyone risk exposing themselves to Florida at this point? Have you not seen what DeSantis has done to that state to mold himself into the Trump heir apparent?

Across the country kids (many of which are too young for vaccine still) are returning to school where parents have fought against masks... all over my area there are reports of schools switching to virtual for two weeks (days after school started) due to exposure...point being —> this is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Might be a blessing that it is difficult to get into the US these days.

We have a friend in Florida (not Orlando) who lost his partner to Covid and has had it himself. He is a lecturer and is having to go into colleges full of unmasked students, despite his own health being fragile. Until recently he has been able to teach over Zoom but the college have removed this option.

Much as I want to get back to Florida, I really wish they would sort themselves out a bit more first.
