Christmas fails

Only one this year which must be a record.
Betty's Christmas chocolate box, wish I'd looked at the favours better.
Salted caramel and liquorice anyone?

Dropped a smoking hot tray of goose fat...burnt feet and slippy floor! Cleared up, and all ok... then dropped a bowl of parsnips on the edge of the table smashing my dh plate which had his turkey, gammon and roasties on... still, new plate, new helpings, cleaned up floor , table and chair and carried on as if nothing had happened!

One smashed plate of mince pies here - plate in bits and mince pies very injured. Other than that, pretty uneventful this year!

Turkey crown being transferred from baking tray to serving tray with my trusty fork and fish slice

Yes you guessed it, it slipped, went splat on the floor and lay there looking back at me as if to say “you Pratt” I was down there in three seconds flat trying to pick it up with my not so trusty fork and fish slice. Well I got it three quarters of the way to the tray and whoosh is slipped again down onto the deck. By this time I was giggling away to myself. “What’s going on” was the cry from the wife. “Nothing dear” was my reply as I struggled to get the turkey to where it belonged.

No one knows what happened and there was no way I was telling anyone. The wife was wondering why the dog was so interested in licking the floor though

So sorry but this made me laugh, I totally get the fish slice & fork as this is my method of food transfer despite buying the proper meat lifting forks. I also have had many dropped food items using this method but still persist whilst the meat forks take up room in the utensil drawer occasionally jamming it when they get knocked around.

Hope no Dibber got one of the “rancid” turkeys that appear to have been common, if the press is to be believed.

I lit two small candles without thinking about the shelf above them. I now have two round blackened and blistered marks on the painted shelf. Can’t believe the heat from small candles could make such a mess - there was around 10 inch clearance.

Aside from no crackers, being unable to remember where I’ve relocated all the tablecloths and having Covid, I actually managed to get dinner on the table ✅

I did find the cauliflower cream in the microwave late last night 🤦🏼

How you feeling? X glad you managed yesterday. Me too! Seemed hard work though. My head is still wooly but throat is better.
