Wedding evening sweet treats

Hi,

So we are going to have some sweet treats in the evening at our wedding, made my someone in the family who is a baker. If you went to a wedding what would you prefer?

- cupcakes (however everyone is supposed to be being served wedding cake as dessert after the sit down meal)
- biscuits
- brownies
- donuts
- or a mix of everything

Also would people recommend what ever we choose is all the same flavour /topping or would you do a variety.

Also again, would you cater so there was one whole thing for everyone or would you cater less/more. I'm worried what if a child takes more than one and then someone has nothing and what not. Would love to know people's opinions. I know it's bizarre having like another dessert but still 😆

I would say a mix of everything but I do think that encourages people to take more rather than choose. Or I would have little sponge cakes made in petit four cases with different sweets on top.


I went to a wedding that had a kids sweets corner, just picknmix type stuff in tubs with little stripey bags to put them in. Would keep them off your baked goodies.

unfortunately, I beg to differ...

Went to a wedding that did this a couple of years ago, it was a free for all, adults and kids were eating everything from everywhere... With the adults it was probably alcohol fuelled though!

In answer to the OP, I would still agree with Sue. Do a mix of everything, and Sue makes a good point - I would definitely have a kids corner. I think that way you're covering all bases, and even if/when kids and adults are ramming a bit of everything down their throats there's still likely going to be enough for eveyone.
And, not everyone has a sweet tooth...

Can you have something nicely wrapped and waiting at the table. Then everyone gets just one.
We had an individual chocolate at each place setting instead of the sugared almonds which were popular at the time.

Thanks guys. I did think about having something for the children to deter or serving one for each person as we aren't doing favours so could do them. Ive only attended a few weddings, but I remember once with my cousins that we were hungry. We have drinks for guests on arrival to the sit down after the ceremony. I'm wondering if it's best to maybe have them then as well so that there's a pick me up whilst people are waiting. Definatley think we will go for a selection then, after all people could do a swap if they want. A great ice breaker to mix the families 😂😂.

We completely over catered and had leftovers aplenty. We had 80 to ours.
Ceremony then on arrival offered cream tea (catered for 1 scone each). Garden games / drinks etc. Had loads leftover.
We had hog roast and salads for the main meall.
Forgot to cut the cake so guests didn't get any. We catered for a slice of costco gateau each ... and had at least a third of the gateaus each leftover.

People all said they left stuffed. Hope that helps?
