Steamboat Powells: Disney Cruise Staycation Southampton August 2021

A bit of background. We booked this cruise because we thought it could be a back up for if Florida didn’t happen. We booked it for after we were due to return from Florida just in case. Well it turned out it was to be our only Disney magic that year and for some time!

We are me, Emma (37), my husband Owen (39), Hayden (8) and Ashley (5). This would be our first cruise (although Owen and I had been on a Nile cruise pre-children).

We kept the Disney cruise secret from the boys as we were so worried it wouldn’t happen and with two year’s disappointment of our Florida holiday being cancelled, we didn’t want them to face further disappointment. As they had to have a PCR test a few days before going, we pretended it was for going back to school. However once these were negative as we’re the LFT Owen and I took, we knew we could reveal the surprise.

The day before we were due to go, we scheduled a telephone call from Mickey and Minnie and I printed off some pretend tickets. You can see the reveal video here:



The boys didn’t quite understand it and it required a bit of explanation but once they watched a few videos of what to expect, they were excited!
