Easter 2023 HK or Japan?
I know none of us have crystal balls, but gut feeling from those more in the know about going east, I’m looking for opinions on next Easter - do you think HongKong/Thailand (1 week in each) or 2 weeks in Japan is a safer bet to be open to tourists? (Also any considerations on disney renovations, which parks will be more open/less under construction?)
What would you do? Flights will be on sale soon… Or do I play it safer and go to USA? Edited at 09:06 AM. |

I obviously don’t really have a scooby doo but I follow TDR explorer who’s based in Japan and he reckons Japan could open up late summer / early autumn this year as there are a couple of festivals planned over there who have international acts so.. 🤷🏼 Could be nothing but it’s interesting.
We are planning on visiting Japan in April 2024 . Was meant t to be next summer 2023 but we think the weather will make it really unbearable for sightseeing. |

April next year is the 40th anniversary of Tokyo Disney opening, and HISTORICALLY they have tried to open new attractions there on that day - no guarantee they will make it with the Fantasy Springs expansion but given how things run in the past... it is as good a date as got until they announce things formally.

Both HK and Tokyo are risky bookings right now who knows in the future. I would say Japan will open before China

Morning, we are considering Easter 2023 for Japan. Agree there are risks - but potentially also a great time to visit!

I've literally just booked my flights today for March / Easter 2023 to Japan.
My plan is to book everything flexibly, reassess the situation 2 months before I go and if everything is still closed, push it back and book somewhere else for that period. I appreciate not everyone will have that option but if you physically can't visit, you will get a flight voucher at the very least / claim back from your travel insurance. |

Hi, was looking to do similar - can I ask a couple of questions how did you book with avios and Japanese Air (was it online/call) and are they cancellation terms and avios refunds the same?
Thanks in advance! |
