New Grand Floridian Resort Studios

We have 10 days booked at our home resort of AKV in October but I have been watching with interest the availability for these newly refurbished "DVC" hotel rooms at the Grand Floridian. There does look to be good availability at the moment.

Essentially they look to be just that, hotel rooms rather than deluxe studios and thus without the microwave and bigger fridge. After weighing that up I'm tending the think I might swap our stay over as I would likely never have stayed at the Grand Floridian otherwise and we don't use the microwave anyway. We could use the closer proximity to MK to go to the Halloween Party

Has anyone stayed in this block, or nearby before?

Are there refillable drinks machines outside of the main building, for example in this new DVC block?

Any idea how long it will take to walk/how far from this new DVC area to the main building?

Does anyone know when the renovations are due to be complete? I wouldn't want to arrive for the building still to be covered in scaffold.

Any thoughts or experiences welcome.

1) Yeah, even though they are separate buildings the GF is quite a compact resort. It's a couple of minutes from the outer buildings to the main one.

2) You will be very close to the pool bar where you can refill mugs.

3) two or three minutes at most - it's very close.

I don't think they'll open until the work is complete so you should be ok on that one.
