Has anyone been to Thorpe park recently?
We are thinking of going and haven't been for many decades! Is it good esp for teens?

For rides it’s fantastic and definitely more geared towards teens.
I think if you’re going as a family you’ll have a great day but it is the ‘roughest’ merlin park out of all of them as it seems to attract lots of groups of teens who sometimes kick off with each other. We took dd 11 and she had a fab time , dh not so much as it’s nearly all thrill rides 😆 |

The rides are good (when they work) but I found it pretty run down and in need of a clean.
More than that though the atmosphere wasn’t good. The behaviour of other guests put a downer on things at Thorpe Park. Fighting, swearing, queue jumping, smoking in lines (including cannabis). Alton Towers is much better in my view. |

Thanks both
I half expected it might have got a bit run down. The idea of fighting and swearing and stuff doesn't really appeal much though Alton towers is a bit far but maybe we should consider it ... I have a few weeks to mull it over so will give it some thought

I’ve just come back from Towers, had a great day!
We are in Herts so always stay over as it’s a long journey. |

I went with friends including a 12 year old and 8 year old on a day that had a fright night. We had a great day but towards the evening the atmosphere was changing and becoming unpleasant. Lots of police and security onsite

Themepark Worldwide on YouTube have a recent blog from Thorpe Park (and Alton Towers), it might be worth a watch and see how it looks/feels?

I think Alton Towers is generally the nicer park of the two, however I haven't been very recently but can't say i've had any real issues with swearing, smoking etc. You can get a bad bunch of people anywhere, and if you have teens attending theme parks you will get some of that regardless.
It is very much a thrill ride park, full of coasters and very little non thrill rides. |

Thanks all I'll check out the blogs.
Realistically though I think Thorpe Park will be the way to go to be able to do it as a day trip. I shall report back! |
