Device to share WiFi
Does anyone have a decent device to share say a hotel WiFi with multiple devices. So create your own WiFi network and possibly vpn off of another WiFi network ?

A few reasons firstly for the VPN, I have had my bank account emptied (vi PayPal) after riding stuff with PayPal form a hotel in Vegas.
Secondly when I travel I generally only want my phone on the network but I need my laptop once a week to do payroll. On some places they charge you per mac address where as of you connect via your own network you are using the routers MAC address and your network uses the other devices Mac adddresses on it internal network |

I guess the reason you are considering this is because the hotel in question wants to charge to internet access and so you want to connect 1 device then hop across that device. The other reason i would be considering this is for devices which can not conenct to hotel wifi, eg a Amazon echo as you have no way to traverse the internet page (captive).
I have a verbatim media share device I use, but its not on sale anymore. I use it so my devices can connect without the need to reconfigure wifi all the time. You may want to look at something like GL-MT300N-V2 Mini Smart Router. Before purchasing ensure the device is able to connect to WIFI with a Capture page. Just another thought , if your phone is connected to the wifi you could look at creating a hotspot on your phone. Edited at 12:37 PM. |

Yes that is right I had not even thought of the echo but a great idea and then we could take this with us. We have a power bank for the echo and I take it to my warehouse sometimes but it’s flakey on tether.
I have ordered the router you mentioned which was what I was looking at and will let you know how I get on Thanks Edited at 12:39 PM. |
