Kensington Palace

We're going to London on 2nd August, arriving at 12ish on the train, before going to see Lion King in the evening.

My daughter wants to go to Kensington Palace, because Princess Charlotte lives there (they were born on the same day.) So I wondered if anyone had been recently and could tell me what it's like, and best way to get there, we're staying near Russell Square.

We won't have time to do much the following morning as our train back is about 12.30.

I visited with my daughter last year and we both enjoyed it, Princess Diana’s wedding dress was on display which is why we visited. I’m pretty certain, that as you look at the ornate gates of KP, the Cambridge apartments are on the left, so you can at least point at where she lives.

I have been but not for a few years. I thought it was excellent and a really good day out. Kensington Gardens are also lovely to walk around. We went to Whole Foods on the high street and had a lovely picnic lunch. If you get the tube to High Street Kensington, turn right on exiting. Whole Foods is just further down on the same side. If you cross this road and walk further down you will see the signs for entrance to KP. Take the road that has the embassy’s on it (DO NOT take photos here, it’s strictly forbidden for security purposes). The entrance to KP is on your right along this road. It takes you past the vehicle entrance for the Cambridge’s and brings you to the big gates.
Have a lovely time.

I visited Kensington palace on my last trip to London in March, the staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly but you only see a tiny amount of rooms which was disappointing though those that you see are good, I wouldn’t go back but glad I went to see it if that makes sense

Amazing all, thanks for your feedback. I have a think about what to do, but I’m sure DD will still want to go.

Yuo might want to look at Historic Royal Palaces membership as it is really reasonable and covers Kensington Palace, Tower of Loondon, Banqueting House, Kew Palace(not gardens) and Hamton court
