Child Swap Lightening Lane
Hi all,
Apologies for my lack of knowledge on this but the last time we went to Florida was 2016 and we were childless! We go this summer and we will have a 22 month old and a 6 month old. There will be 5 adults. So my question is, when using the child swap system, it is my understanding that a maximum number of people that could be in "group 2" that could get the "fastpass/lightening Lane" is 2 people. So could those that are in group 1 (3 people in our circumstance) purchase a normal lightening lane so technically we could all go through lightening lane but in two groups via the child swap system? Such as, we go to entrance and ask to use child swap. We say 3 adult will be group 1 and 2 adults will be group 2 with the two babies and get a lightening lane. Thoss in group one then purchase a lightening lane each for the ride and goes on and then the second group goes on with their childswap lightening lane. My worry is having a toddler and baby and waiting around a lot. Ideally would like to reduce this as much as possibly. Edited at 11:17 PM. |

The second group will only be allowed to obtain the rider swap if they too have purchased the lightening lane (either genie+ reservation or individual
Lightening lane). Disney have clamped down on rider swap and cast members check that all riders are eligible for lightening lane if the first group of a rider swap are using it before issuing the second group with the privilege. They will also only allow one ‘extra’ to ride with party two and get to ride with both groups.

So if we all have an LL 6 of us my granddaughter can ride with her mum and dad and auntie whilst one of us waits with the little one.
Can then my granddaughter ride again with the person who didn’t ride the first time, so effectively she rides twice and everyone else once but as a split group? She would be taking the place of the little one who has a LL but is either too short or too scared to ride? I think from the previous answer she can?! I’m not even sure if I’ve explained that very well!

I don’t know there answer but I did know the old system.
But I’m curious why would the second group need to have bought lightening lane to use rider switch? Surely that would render the rider switch totally pointless? Why would you even need a RS if everyone has LL? Just use your LL. That makes no sense. Am I missing something?

The only benefit of rider swap with the LL is that one person gets to ride with both groups. For out family of 4 DS is too small for a lot of the bigger rides so DH and DD will LL and then I will use my LL and DD can go on again. If I didn’t have a LL they wouldn’t issue me a rider swap pass off the back of DH and DD using their LL. They won’t allow 1 person to pay for a LL then a group to wait and then get LL effectively for free. It’s Disney stopping people abusing the system to get round paying the full price for a large party.

Oh my! This is complicated. We shall have a 3 year old and a baby in arms next year when we go and my DD was asking what happens with child swap. As we have not been for 10 years, my memory of child swap was from donkeys years ago when DD was 4! Am presuming that LL means lightning lanes? I need a Dummies Guide to Genie + because this is hurting my head!

Sorry that's me not explaining better. My understanding is group 2 get a lightening lane pass for a ride that a child can't go on. The first group go on in the normal queue and then the second group wait outside with the children. Then when group 1 come out, group 2 go through the lightening lane queue. My question is, if the people in group one buy a lightning lane for that ride, do the people in group 2 still get the lightening lane pass as part of the child swap?

Yes group 2 can ride without LL but your return time is likely to be based on the standby wait time if people in the group don’t have LL. again as someone said it can be based on the cast member and even the ride.
