I flew through T1 at Manchester at the end of February early morning and waited over an hour in the queue for security.
It was just the sheer volume of people and the lack of coherence with staff as we got close to the scanners as we were being sent to a queue for the scanner then being told to walk back to the main queue as there were too many people in that queue. It was mayhem and just very disorganized as well as being boiling hot in there. I think this was the start of the big problems they had and I can see why. The staff just seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. We are travelling next week again on an early flight and I have booked Fast Track. For me it’s well worth the £15 not to have the stress again. |

We always book fast track at Manchester after queuing for over an hour one year. Last week the queues for normal security and special assistance were both massive, out both sides of the case drop area. We walked between them and were through in less than 5 minute and into the lounge. A sign said the lounge was full but it was empty. The man on the desk said it was because everyone was stuck in security.

The idea that they can get you through if you pay, otherwise you might miss your flight is awful!
How about they get all hands on deck and get the show on the road? It just seems like yet another thing to pay for. Fine if you’re single or a couple but for a large family it could really add up. Is it too much to expect that arriving at the airport in good time will ensure you can board?

I guess it is in all areas of life now. Just look at Genie+ and the previous FastPass. You pay more to get priority in the queue.

We fly in September and have just booked Fast track at Manchester. With a 1 year old in tow, £5 per person is worth it to hopefully not be in a queue for long. I have had family fly from Manchester recently and they said they were through security in no time so it all depends I think.

We flew from MAN T2 yesterday, we did have Fast Track security and were through in no time at all, zero queue, however the normal security line was very short and also moved quickly from what I could see, no major hold ups at all….
The only hold up we experienced was waiting to leave our car at Meet & Greet, this was no where near as efficient as usual, staff did not seem to know if they were coming or going, took over 30 mins compared to the usual 5 but we had allowed plenty of time so no biggie…. Ali x |
