US Groupon Heads up - Account cancelled

Ordered an e-gift card for our October trip last night (Krispy Kreme) and it remained at Pending

I paid through Paypal as I have done numerous times and did nothing different to what I have previously done. This morning I couldn't even log into the site.

Spoke with Groupon over chat and I was informed that my account has been deleted as I should not be using the US site if a UK resident and the money will be refunded.

Not sure what went wrong but something obviously flagged up regarding the payment

It’s never been a problem in the 10 years I’ve been ordering off the US groupon site. Obviously, I stay away from the US residents only stuff like sea world tickets (which is set by sea world not groupon) but everything else has been processed without issue, without being clever. There hasn’t been anything to say it wasn’t allowed before.

I used us groupon only the past but in 2019 couldn’t get it to work at all. Queried why I could get payments to go through and was told I couldn’t use it from uk.

Very strange. A load of us used it 6 weeks or so ago to get some vegas groupons. Most had no issues, a couple had payment issues, which their customer service said to just try again after 24 hours, which worked fine.

I'm not sure what the problem is/was but If i want to use again I'll need to create a new account and to save $5 not sure i can be bothered really

As I said in another thread, I wonder if you load money into paypal before hand and then pay that way, it won't have to take it off a linked UK Credit Card.

Used to have loads of paypal credit in my account until eBay stopped using it and started paying you direct.

I tried so many different things at the time but couldn’t get it to work. Used it no problem before that but haven’t tried again since.

Strange, I've used my UK account with a UK credit card (Halifax Clarity) this week on a Florida Groupon offer.

I’ve used Groupon USA for years , including earlier this year ..not a case of trying to be clever , It simply just worked !
