Great choice. It's an oasis of calm amongst the Vegas craziness as soon as you walk through the front doors. And Panda Express is pretty much next door which is a bonus to me!

We have been to Las Vegas 24 times..stayed at most MGM properties…plus Venetian,Fontainebleau, resorts world.

I would recommend park mgm as non smoking.choice of pools..vdara have kitchenette but pool not great…New York New York great food outlets but pool small..Mandalay bay bit far off centre strip but massive pool with lazy river..

Any questions feel free to pm me….

I've been to Vegas 7 times for work events. Stayed at Mirage the most which is shut while they refurb it, also stayed at Bellagio (beautiful but busy), Venetian (massive rooms but a bit old style - loads of eating choices), Encore at the Wynn (beautiful, smaller rooms, felt a bit disconnected) and Vdara (good size all suites, close and connected to Bellagio/Aria, dog friendly so I always saw dogs on a morning, no-smoking, no-casino). I'd book Vdara again while Mirage is shut.

Been loads of times stayed everywhere from Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Mirage to Stratosphere, Sahara and Imperial Palace, we have stayed at places no longer there Hacienda, Riviera, New Frontier, Monte Carlo, Tropicana etc and loads in the middle MGM, Park MGM, Luxor, Excalibur.

Firstly if you want the Vegas feel I think you have to stay in a resort no Ellis Island off the Strip or Polo Towers with "no added Vegas". I like MGM its close to the airport and the waterpark is probably the best in Vegas but the resort is huge. I like Park MGM, I like the rooms and the location is great but pool like most in Vegas is disapointing.

The Mirage isn’t being refurbed. It’s been sold and is being transformed into the hard rock.

Was easier to say refurbed than all that , I know it's a Hard Rock, last time I stayed it was already using the HR brand.

We’ve stayed in the MGM twice. It’s iconic, the pool and lazy river are fabulous but it’s HUGE!

Last year we stayed in the Cosmo. Room was much smaller and no nicer than MGM (we always stayed in a Grand Tower Room) and cost more than double the MGM. Pool was poor in comparison but it was much quicker to get from our room to the strip and I preferred the walk in shower to the over bath shower.

If there wasn’t much difference in price I’d go for the Cosmo but otherwise the MGM suits us and we love the lazy river .

The city rooms are ok at the Cosmo (and slightly bigger (460sqft) than MGMs grand tower room(446 sqft)) but the rest are 700sqft+ suites with balconies, which are great and not much more expensive than the city rooms.

The city room we stayed in at Cosmo definitely seemed smaller than any of the rooms we’ve stayed in at the MGM and the cost of a suite with a balcony was pretty significant for our booking - around 50% from memory. We did get offered a cheap upgrade at check in but only for part of our stay so we decided against it.

A lovely hotel but in our opinion not worth the difference in price.

I've never personally tried it and there are mixed feelings towards it online. Some people say you'll get the same upgrade by asking nicely.
We have had success with this
