CA - Possibly, Maybe, Now Definitely! Day 6 - It's Tiring Doing Nothing

Day 6 (Tuesday 05/09/17)

Trip Index here.

During our stay on Amelia Island before our Disney visit last year, we did say that doing nothing is tiring, to which Alex had replied "I've been telling you that for years" thus justifying the teenage years of "research" into this issue!

Well again this year, that statement appears to be gaining further credibility. Now on our 4th non-travelling day and only having had one day away from the pool, we're still tired, and we did manage a fairly late lie-in this morning.

TBH, we had planned very little for our stay at MdR as we felt that last year, our three days of just idling on the beach did us the world of good before hitting Disney, so we reckoned on the same this year before we are unleashed on Las Vegas and San Francisco.

As the morning had kicked off quite overcast, we decided to have a stroll around the Marina itself, having already driven around it a few times. There is a small beach opposite our accommodation which we took the opportunity of strolling along, continuing along a walkway and around the Marina. Naturally, the sun decided to make a reappearance and it did become extremely hot in that short time, so we chickened out and headed back to our condo via the road, on which the walkways were conveniently shaded by the Marina-side buildings.

Only a couple of photos of the beach and Marina today

Having all skipped breakfast this morning following our Olive Garden blowout last night, lunch was had in the condo, where an approximation of a Philly Cheesesteak was created using a pice of steak left over from Sunday night, plus hot dogs that we had bought as well. I have to admit that the condo has saved us a good few $$s, having had all of our breakfasts, three lunches and two dinners "eating in".

And with that, what better than... another visit to the pool! With the sun out, it was time to catch some more rays, so another fairly chilled afternoon around the pool. As the complex we are in seems to be mainly leased to people working in the area, the pool has never really been that crowded and we have always managed to get beds. As an aside, it has also been generally quiet during the days, and even Labor Day weekend only saw the Monday with a significant increase in people around the place.

Back to the room, the joys of a multi-centre holiday - packing. Fortunately we are driving to Las Vegas tomorrow, so don't really have to worry about suitcase weights, and we can stuff odd bags inbetween the cases.

With the bulk of the packing done, time for dinner which meant another visit to the Cheesecake Factory. We were planning on eating outside tonight, but a slight breeze saw the two ladies vetoing that idea. CF at 19:30 did look significantly less busy than our last visit, and again we were seated indoors almost immediately.

Showing enormous restraint, we avoided the appetisers and only had a main each - Crispy Chicken Tortilla for myself, Chicken Alfredo for Alex and the Steak Diane/Shrimp combo for Jo. Even more restraint was shown when the dessert menu came round - we passed on desserts as well as TBH we were over-full from the mains.

This left plenty of time for another stroll along the beach before making our way back "home" and catching a few episodes of Friends that we hadn't previously watched.
