25th Wedding Anniversary California Road travel Day

So DH and I are off on our long awaited road trip. We flew BA from Glasgow via Heathrow! Up at 5.30 and at the airport for 7.20 for a 10.35 flight. Already checked in and not a soul at bag drop when we got there. Then breezed through a very quiet security. A quick wander, grabbed a coffee and a hot chocolate from Starbucks and decided to wander to our gate... where the previous flight hadn't left yet! Ooooops maybe I need to learn we don't need to be there so early!

When the flight left we were on our own at the gate for a while!

At Heathrow we were disappointed to see that the Wetherspoons was boarded off, so had something to eat in Giraffe. It was tasty and we were then all set to head to our gate.

The flight was long, although after 3 movies (Table19, Lion and Beauty and the Beast) plus 2 Big Bang Theories and food it soon passed. I don't do food photos, sorry! But the choices were chicken with cheese risotto or a veg pasta, we both went with chicken. It's was tasty. During the flight we had a snack nod of popcorn, crisps and malteesers then about an hour before landing we had a pizza calzone slice, pepperoni or mozzarella. Again tasty. The cabin crew were fab.

We got to San Francisco on time, 5.15 pm, through immigration and bag collection, and on to Avis preferred to collect our Kia Sorrento and were on the road to the Cow Hollow Motor Inn by 6.45.

Checked in at 7.30 and were out at a local shop for water and juice by 8.15. Back to the room and in bed by 9.00 and now I'm awake at 1.00 am.

I'll try harder with photos tomorrow.
