Am I being too picky - new heated towel rail

Hi guys

We are paying around £5.5k for new heating.

The nice new towel rail was too high so fitter noticed and moved it and now left with lovely holes he needs to fill and having left the metal rawl plugs still in the wall (after I had already replastered the wall).

However, the top right bracket wasn't moved and it is not fitted properly now. The bracket and cover are at an angle with original hole higher than the fitting point on the rail.

The bracket is not fitted correctly and will probably put excessive pressure on the plastic cover as it gets older. Also the retaining screw probably won't go in as the hole will be misaligned

Am I being picky to ask him to rectify?

I don't want to be unreasonable but I need to live with this and it grates that it wasn't done correctly.

Thanks for any thoughts

Nope not at all the very reason I now never allow trades men in the house if I'm not in nor let them go at the end of the day without reviewing the work and agreeing it must be sorted therevand then or first thing next day

Thanks guys. I just wanted reassurance I wasn't being picky.

He comes back tomorrow to finish off (hopefully). I picked up on the holes already today but hadn't noticed the bracket not being flush with the wall.

I can't understand why tradesman don't rectify things when they see they are not fitted correctly. You would think they woukd take a pride in the end product.

Better get my big girl pants on for the morning lol

You are not being unreasonable, you've paid for the job to be done properly.
Sounds like they are just being lazy and hope they can get away with it.

Never be afraid to point things out. As an ex tradesman I expected it.

Probably he was rushing at the end of the day. Just be polite but firm and ask for it to be taken off and rehung. Probably a 15 minute job.

The customer is always right - well normally.

Thanks tom. I woukd think it was easy too

I had already asked for the rail to be removed to take out the old metal plugs and fill the holes (the old ones are right next to the brackets so difficult to fill) but he is insisting on knocking them in and filling. This request was before the pipe was cut and connected.

So looking forward to him arriving

Cheers

OP. I would knock them in and fill. I would say most would as there is nothing to be gained by digging them out.

But you have the cheque book, the work isn't finished so you have the whip hand. Best of luck.
