Disney Springs
Now it's DS what is it like compared to DTD, we only touched it briefly last year to get to Bongo's so did't really explore.
I was on another site last night and it was saying that a certain shop (can't remember which) had closed down which led to a complete slaying of the new DS and how un-family orientated it was and how expensive etc. I was looking forward to it next month and this has left me on a downer, is it that bad?

Lots of good new restaurant and bars, still plenty of the old things there at the market place. As others will tell lots of new shops some higher end and some regular stuff like zara

Depends when you were last there for a good walk round. The Market Place end and Westside haven't changed a great deal but the biggest redevelopment is in the old Pleasure Island area which is now mainly restaurants and "high end" retailers. This photo was taken late morning so not too busy.
Two multi-storey car parks and the relocation of the WDW resort bus stops are also major changes. Mick

Is the revamp all completed now? When we were last there in 2014, it was pretty much a building site. I was very disappointed as I loved Down Town Disney on our first visit.

This is the latest plan from the DIBB menu on the right.
I recall that in March they were finishing off the Edison restaurant but other than that I can't remember any other building work. https://www.thedibb.co.uk/web_images/maps/DDMap.pdf Mick

Thanks. Just had a look. Loads and loads of shops and restaurants. Loose lots £'s and gains lots of Lb's all in one visit.
The trauma us girls will put ourselves through.

We had a couple of really nice evenings there. Had dinner then bought a few drinks and sat and watched live music. Perfect! There was a really nice atmosphere too.
Shopping wise there is a bit of a mix. |

I really like Disney Springs and often make a few trips there each time (unfortunately I never made it to DTD before they started the revamp, so don't have a comparison). There's a lot to buy and browse, there are some shops that are pretty cool such as the Cherry Tree Lane shop that is now selling Disney dresses, and also plenty of eating options.
Have at look at Amorette's, it does the most amazing cakes - this is completely new!

I think Disney Springs is great, lovely atmosphere at night. Yes some high end shops but it also has Sephora! Makes it a must for any make up fan.

DS is bigger than DTD was, as they built the new 4th area (Town Center) on the surface car park next to Planet Hollywood. Also, Pleasure Island is now called The Landing, and its character has changed. There is noticeably less emphasis on 'entertainment' throughout DS - more retail and restaurants.
There is still lots of building work going on - just in different areas. This week (from what I remember), Disney Quest is now closed and has boards round it, Wolfgang Puck, the balloon was taken down for the hurricane and is not yet back up, The Edison area, plus something next to Raglan Road. Cirque De Soleil closes in December. Both the new parking garages are open, and the surface parking near Cirque De Soleil is still available. There are still roadworks just west of DS. |
