NYC, LA & Vegas - Day 7
Index here
We woke at 8am this morning, got read & left the room at 9am after a very comfortable stay, such a lovely hotel! We grabbed breakfast from Starbucks. I had a bagel, some fruit and a banana, Aaron had a breakfast burrito and Laura had a muffin, $25. We paid the $22 valet cost and tipped the driver as he bought the car round. We drove past the Queen Mary as we hadn’t spotted it last night, such a beautiful ship! The journey looked clear all the way to Vegas so we set off, we made a stop for fuel in Hisperia but otherwise drove all the way to the Prim outlets before stopping, about 3.5 hours. The roads were so long! We saw a Miller brewery on the way which excited Aaron! We had a quick look at Primm, I bought a Michael Kors bag but no one else found anything that took their fancy. We tried to grab a KFC for the journey but the menu was so weird, everything came with mash & gravy & they didn’t appear to offer fries! Whaaat!? On the way out fo the car park wLaura spotted Leona Lewis posing up for a photo, not a great celeb spot but better than nothing . It was another 35 minutes to Vegas but we soon had the strip in sight! Exciting! We found the NYNY parking lot easily and unleaded the car before heading to registration. We checked in but they couldn’t offer us two rooms on the same floor without one of us having to pay an upgrade (no thanks)!, a bit annoying but not the end of the world, we were in the same block with the same lifts and it really didn’t make any difference in the end. We were in block B, rooms 1131 & 681 for Laura. Our room was lovely, I tried to get hold of Laura but there was no answer. After a while she called us to say she had been back down to reception to demand a room change. She said her window had a brick wall outside it and the room was so dark she couldn’t find her way around! They relocated her to room 740 and she was happier with that. We head out after 30 minutes or so and wondered around NYNY before heading over to MGM. We’d had a really good meal last time we were here at Pub 1848 so we head over there to ask for a table. They said it was an hour wait so we put our name down & headed over to some slots to kill the time. We bet about $5 each & in that time got a few rounds of drinks. I had a D. Coke, boring! Laura had chocolate martinis, Aaron had Coronas and an extra margarita as the waitress bought the wrong thing over, he was pleased. It seems I won big! We head back to the restaurant and our table was ready for us. I was absolutely ravenous by this point having not eaten since breakfast so we decided on a starter! Nachos! I then had the bacon burger, Aaron had the chicken burger and Laura had the fish and chips., $102 plus tip. Laura at about 2 bites again and then left hers. Stolen pics... We wondered up the strip turning back just as we got to the Bellagio & head back to the hotel, we were in bed by 11pm. Edited at 11:27 AM. |

What a nice smooth journey to Vegas, love that you stopped on the way for some more retail therapy (the MK bag is gorgeous!)
So lovely to hear you liked NYNY, I loved staying there! I have nothing to compare it too as have never stayed anywhere else but for a first visit it was the perfect location and not too scarily big (the MGM just terrifies me!) A great start to the Vegas leg of your trip! |

Yea I love my bag! I've eyed them up for years and always walked away but knowing my spare money will be tied up soon I though I had better treat myself
NYNY was ace, would definitely stay there again. I also loved the MGM though when we stayed there. TBH, I think most Vegas hotels are amazing, you would be hard pushed to be disappointing I think. I do have my eye on the Bellagio for a future trip though, It's just so beautiful. Better get saving those pennies! Ha! |

Is that the first KFC you've had over there? My strange kids like it because you get wedges and mash not fries.
We loved NYNY too when we stopped there , If I were to stop on the strip again I would definitely stop there. |

Great day in Vegas baby! Leona Lewis haha,I'd read she was in Vegas celebrating her birthday. Who knew you could get cocktails in the casinos while gambling, not me! We always stick to beer, wine or vodka, never thought they'd rustle up a cocktail on the house. I shall be sampling many of those in June now haha

Well we didn't go for it in the end, the options were just too strange. Wedges wouldn't have been so bad but I only saw mash!
NYNY is great isn't it. Fab location & atmosphere. I know, I did wonder if I was still in Amercia! Vegas is a must do, such an iconic place. It certainly wasn't the best celeb spot ever! Ooh yea, cocktails all the way in the casino! Burger was great, free cocktails even better. Shame I couldn't partake! |

Good work on the bag! It's lovely.
I am shocked at the lack of fries! Haha. Your hotel looks really nice, glad Laura got moved - brick views are no fun at all. |

We'll be doing a similar journey in September (staying in Marina deal Rey), but I suspect I'll be avoiding the outlets on the journey over at least! Just keeping fingers crossed that our room doesn't have any info on them...
