Need inspiration for family meals please

I'm getting fed up with making & eating the same food over & over again so I'm hoping that people might be willing to share their family friendly recipes.

We are a family of 2 adults, 1 x 5 year old (plus a 5 week old). The 5 year old can be rather fussy.

Does anyone have any recipes that are a hit with their young children (but that the rest of the family also enjoy!).

Thanks in advance

Favourites in our house include homemade lasagne, kedgeree and stir fried chicken and rice. The kids really love an old favourite from nursery, baked potatoes, tuna, cheese and beans! DH and me will have the baked pots with salad, cold meat etc.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread is I'm so bored with the same old dinners.

Last night I made ham and cheese omelettes. I have a very picky 4yr old that will only eat chicken dippers. 🙄 She refused to eat it but my 9yr ds he enjoyed it.

I also do Nando's style chicken in pitta, so I marinate some chicken with the Nando's marinade, I used lemon and herb for my ds and medium one for us and serve in pitta with some salad.

I also cook sausage casserole either served with roast potatoes or mash.

Tuna bolognese with sweet corn was always a big hit here.

Spag bol, make a big batch and throw in some kidney beans and a bit of something spicy into whatever's left over to convert it into chilli the next day. It can be very mild, so as not to upset your small one.

Fish pie with cheese on top.

DIY pizzas - get all the ingredients together with some pizza bases, then everyone puts what they want on top. Adults enjoy this just as much as children!

A thick omelette with lots of extras in, made like a frittata - leftover boiled potato fried up, bits of ham, onion (if your small one will eat it) sweetcorn, peas, red pepper, chopped herbs etc - the egg really just acts to stick it all together. Fry everything for a bit, then add the beaten eggs and a dash of milk and sprinkle with cheese. When the bottom is cooked put it under a hot grill for a few minutes to brown the top. Serve in slices.

Don't always have a long time to prepare and cook meals so I use premade sauces but a few of our favourites are

Chicken Pasta Bake,
Use garlic chicken breast or plain - Chop in to chunks
Fry with mushrooms, onions, sweetcorn (or whatever you like)
Cook pasta (penne or whatever your choice)
Mix all together with premade tomato and mascarpone sauce Carbonara Sauce also works.
Put in large dish grate on cheese and put in oven until cheese is melted.

Fish Pie
Fish Pie Mix - I make my own then freeze it but you can but it frozen (Cod, Smoked Haddock, Salmon, whatever fish you can get and like) - Poach in a little milk in the microwave
Frozen Peas (Sometimes add broccoli)
Premade Cheese Sauce - Mix Fish, peas and sauce put into large dish.
Cover with Mashed Potato (Can be bought but I just make my own).
Heat in oven.

Mt DD has loved these since she was small and still loves them today 15 years later.

I too feel we're in a dinner rut. Our diet has got so narrow with the kids being fussy. I hate slaving away in the kitchen for them to whinge through dinner 😣.

Things that are popular are:

Jacket spud souffle- cook potatoes then scoop out and mix cheese into Nash, and ham, bacon, cheese, sweet Cornard then put back in skins.

Chicken fajitas

Pesto pasta

Pasta bake

Naan bread pizzas which they make with choice of topping

Sausage casserole

Tagliatelle, hidden veg sauce and sausage meat balls

Chicken sweet and sour with noodles.

Chicken casserole

Chessey pasta

Would love more ideas. I love curry and stir fry but they won't eat it. They also hate my risotto dishes. Grrr.

They do now both eat a bit of salad but it's taken me years.

Good luck xx
