Totally brilliant. The schools season is my favourite. The characters are so well done.

Every series was consistently brilliant unlike a lot of other series's, the sopranos was brilliant for 4 series's then tailed of like mad men, breaking bad got better with every series. But the wire was always amazing, you couldn't say there was one bad episode.

brilliant TV

upon my first attempt to watvh it i gave up as was very difficult to understand the street slang but on advise is started again with the subtitles on until i was upto speed on who was who etc etc

have to say the final season with the fake serial killer was the weakest

as with a lot of long running series they start to push on the plots to become almost unbelievable..

I've watched all 5 seasons a few times many years ago. Saw it was on Sky boxsets again and watched little else these past 2 weeks. Mid season 3 now.

Tried so hard to convince other people to watch it without success. The pilot episode was regarded as one of the worst of any series anywhere but once you get past the first couple of episodes you're utterly hooked. Plus the earlier comment about putting the subtitles on makes it a different watch altogether.

The subject matter is difficult to watch and the main reason it was cancelled - the public found it a little too tough. It is very "gritty" but not as graphic as modern TV. You get to invest so much (and oddly feel compassionate) in the characters - the police, dealers and the people stuck in the middle like Bubs. A bit like Game of Thrones - bad people do good things and good people do bad (sometimes).

A lot of real life police officers and drug criminals played characters in the series. Just brilliant TV. Omar's coming!
