California/Nevada/Arizona Roadtrip New Kid On the Block

Someone gave me the name of this forum to check out as I was looking for Info Regarding a road trip we've got planned to California/Nevada Arizona Oct/Nov this year.
Great to be here the ironic thing about it is we've been to Florida and it's magical theme parks and attractions several times... so coming across this place and reading some of the stuff on here has brought back some fantastic magical memories. Thanks so much.

We hope to go back once our grandkids are old enough... can't wait.

Hi there and welcome to the DIBB. I and my husband are planning a Route 66 trip for next year. We have done California, Arizona and Nevada as part of a grand circle tour in the past using an RV (Recreational Vehicle). I did a retro report on this which you can read here:

There is a search facility top right of this screen. Just put in some key words and see what happens. If nothing comes up then just put a question in the correct forum. In this case you'd want the "West Coast planning". You can also search for information by selecting the Guide Book option but this is mostly about Walt Disney World features.

We did a road trip around Cali, Nevada and Arizona last year – and it blew us away!

21 nights of pure wows!

We did a circular tour – Briefly –
Flew to LA (did all the touristy stuff and some beaches),
then Palm Springs for the Aerial Tramway,
then to Las Vegas via the national parks,
then overnight at south rim of Grand Canyon,
then to Yosemite National park via Death Valley,
explored lower Yosemite then next it was on to San Francisco, (did all the touristy stuff!)
then back down to Los Angeles via 2 overnights on the Pacific Coast Highway!

We had an absolute blast!
And it inspired us to book to go road trippin’ again - this time around Utah’s Mighty Five, (because we loved the national parks so much) - which is next month!

I didn’t do a trip report but did do a ‘Highs and Lows’ summary post with lots of info in it about our trip here...

Wow! what can I say... just read all the posts in the link you gave me.
Your report was absolutely fantastic thanks so much for sharing

October is coming fast and we've still got a LOT of planning and booking to do lol... but hey that's all part of the fun right

So far the plan upto now is:
San Francisco to Lake Tahoe stopping overnight along the way... over night in lake Tahoe then onto Yosemite village for 2 nights... onto and through death valley to Rachel (area51 where we've booked a night at the little ale ien inn... from there we are going to south rim grand Canyon for 1 to 2 nights then to the hoover dam and las Vegas. From last Vegas to LA then onto the Pacific coast highway back to San Francisco... we will be booking over night stays and cramming as many magical sights as we can fit in in 3 weeks. Just can't wait lol.
Our first couple of nights we have booked an hotel in San Francisco can't wait for Alcatraz... night tour was fully booked but no probs the day tour will be fantastic too. We aren't picking our SUV up until we are ready to leave Frisco... Chevrolet Tahoe we've booked... hopefully the miles will just melt away.
Can't wait to do a report myself and let everyone know how we got on.
