Avacado...

Took 42 yrs but it seems I like Avacado now lol.
My dh is a power lifter and tends to eat a lot of it but it always looked odd to me...tasted it in dips, on it's on but I just didn't like it.
A few weeks back I was in M&S and decided to be *brave* and try it again. Was good actually and seems to be quite healthy for you as well. Had it on a sandwich for the first time last night with chicken...yummy!

Do you find you like certain foods now that you didn't when you were younger?

I think over the past few yrs...I have grown to enjoy asparagus, squash, and now avacado.
All green too...wondering if I have a weird green veg/fruit phobia I didn't know about? Haha.

I didn't like yoghurt or tomatoes when I was younger. I got over the yoghurt thing when I was maybe a teenager but didn't touch tomatoes until I was probably in my 30s.

Tomatoes are tricky with me. I like them in pasta sauce and ketchup but raw? Nope!

Yes, I used to hate olives when I was little but now I love them. I think your palate "matures" as you get older so it's always worth trying something again even if you hated it in childhood . Maybe not everything though .. liver and kidney is gross! 😷

I have been told to start eating avocados as my cholesterol is high, but tried one years ago and thought it was the worst taste ever. Maybe I should try again.

Didn't like swede as a child but like it now. Also ginger in cooking, would avoid anything with ginger in. I still don't like gingerbread but like recipes with ginger in it.

My DD will eat lots of tomato based recipes/meals but won't eat a tomato.
My DS who is now 28, would not eat rice, eggs or tomatoes as a child but eats them all now.

Pumpkinkitty...I have always liked olives (the green ones).
Haha yeah..the liver and kidney think I will always pass on. Not my thing either!

Mezza - will give it a go..thanks

DisneyDaffodil - Yes! It does seem to have a nice little list of how it is good for you. Healthy skin, lowering cholesterol and good for your joints etc.
It seems to be very fulling too.

Oh I like gingerbread but not overpowering taste in say stir frys and the like but when it's mixed with a bit if garlic...nice! Those 2 go well together.

I didn't like spinach as a child but I started to mix it with my mash to try slowly introduce to my tastebuds and now? I can eat a whole bowl of it on it's own

I love avocados!

Mushrooms for me, didn't like them any time I tried them. Something switched a few years ago and I love them now!

Adore avocados. Try making a sorbet with it - great with salmon and prawns. Try mashing it with a fried egg on top.

When I was little I hated cream and mayonnaise. Sadly, I got over it and like them both now.
I also took a long time to like mango. It always tasted muddy to me, but now I have no problems with it.
