Spectrolee's Three Week Disney Trip - Day 1
Travel Day Well the day is finally here, we've made it to the airport, through security and are now in the Upperdeck Lounge (we're flying from Glasgow Airport) We were originally going to just wait and get our seats allocated at the airport, but we were worried that flight switches due to Irma (people being added to our flight possibly) may have made that tricky, so we paid £30pp to pre-book our seats together (that's just for outbound flight) The cost of the lounge was £21 per adult, £15 for Ed and Joni was free. We also added fast track security at a cost of £4.99 per person Starting with Bloody Mary's as always Lounge access includes 4 alcoholic drinks per adult. Cheeses crackers Pastries Porridge, honey and raisins Fruit Fridge with more cheese plus butter and yogurts The lounge is lovely and quiet this morning. Plenty of food and drinks, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. However, the kids area has been removed. There is a small 'game deck' area that the kids are running around in out of everyone's way, but not much here to keep older kids occupied. Game deck area Not sure if you need to get a key to access games consoles, or if they've been removed. At 10:30 some new food choices came out Ruby Tuesday And we're off! Zonked at take off (slightly delayed, we departed around 12:30) My earphone socket was broken, but I was as given an iPad replacement First drink came round just after 1pm A nice vodka with ginger ale for me Food choices for lunch were: Chicken pesto pasta Sausage and mash Paneer curry This was served at 2:15 I had the paneer curry and loved it Joni, Isabel and Davie went for the bangers & mash - they all seemed to enjoy it. Delighted with her mini fab I plumped for another vodka Cheese sandwiches were served at 19:30 (just over an hour before landing) I had eaten one before I remembered to take a pic - oops We landed around 4pm and we're through customs, collected out cases, and were on the monorail within an hour We got to the Magic Express at 5:15 and were onboard at half past We had to wait until the bus filled though, so didn't set off until 5:55 Yay, we're on our way! 20 minutes later and we all cheered when we passed by Mickey Poor Joni got off the bus and vomited. Think it was a mixture of too much orange squash and lack of sleep wee soul. 5 mins later she was running round the lobby like nothing had happened. Unfortunately we couldn't get a room in Congress Park this year. Apparently they have changed their DVC allocation to a preferred location so are no longer likely to be given to cash guests. I didn't really fancy the Grandstand area - but Carousel was the only other area with availability, so we went for the Grandstand. We quickly looked at the positives- we are handy for Turf Club etc, and are right next to a pool where we can refill our mugs. A few snaps before the place ended up a tip lol! We had the usual 3am first holiday day wake up call. Had a wee bite to eat, Joni had a bath, and we snoozed again til 7am - ready for our first day |
