Have any of the golfers on here played Providence?

Could you let me have your opinions please if you have?

We played it six or seven times last September. Always using Golf Now so paying around 16 dollars each including cart.

We played it so often because we were staying in Watersong and it is 2 minutes from there.

Its a nice course with some interesting holes - there is a Par 3 where I don't think either of us ever managed to miss the houses on the right!

It has friendly staff. We never used the Clubhouse because of being so close.

The course was in reasonable condition. We were occasionally put with other twos but mostly we were able to go out on own. A couple of times play was really slow (once due to a five playing as one group)!

We played it once in late May this year and found it in quite poor condition but the month had been very dry and many of the courses we played at were in the worst condition we had seen them in.

My hubby is out at the moment but if you need more info I'll ask him when he gets back.

He plays off 15 and I play off 36 and we both were able to enjoy the course.

We are going this Friday and also staying in Watersong, hence the question.

It looks interesting enough from the website and I will play it from the next to back tees (Handicap 9)

I had heard elsewhere that it was a bit ropey earlier in the year.

Plan is that I will give it a go and see how it is and if its okay stick with it.

I will probably play 6 or 7 times over the 2 weeks and practice for the odd hour or two.

If its a bit iffy I will also play Southern Dunes, Celebration, OCN and Ridgewood Lakes.

I keep promising to play Grand Cypress too so may try that also

I know Ridgewood Lakes isn't everyone's cup of tea, but as an aging golfer I quite like measuring myself against where I was able to hit it last time around from the back Tees and probably the thing I like most about Florida golf is all the forced carries and these courses all have that.

I would be more than happy to do that, although logistically it may be a problem.

Depending on what DW wants to do I will often decide the day before or sometimes very early that morning that I am going to play and book up on Golf Now and if its not where we are staying set off before its light,

I always try and get off in the first couple of groups so that it doesn't take too long and I can get back to do something with DW.

What I will do is have a look at Providence and see what I think of it and then update this thread with when and where I am going to play and if it fits in with your plans, great.

Hi, I played Providence a couple of days ago and to be honest it was still in rough shape from the hurricane. A few of the fairways hadn't been cut in a while as well as well as the tees. Also many of the bunkers were full of water. However, the greens were in good shape and they had begun cleaning up the course.

We still had a great time on the course and it is still playable.

Its sound enough. Conditions were good but not great. Southern Dunes it is not!

Review of Providence Golf Club

Played Providence yesterday and it is a strange mixed bag

Tees are awful but greens are decent

Routing is good in some places but confusing in others

They are building a huge new road between the 16th & 17th

It was very bare and wet in bits

Conclusion, I am not sure I would play it again

As we don't usually come at this time of year, it may be that all courses are in this condition at this time and Irma wont have helped but conditioning wise I would probably place it at the bottom of the list of the courses I have played over here

It reminded me of Ridgewood Lakes / Highlands Reserve in some ways
