You probably have the best and newest glass called K Glass. This retains more of the heat inside but has the downside of the external pane being colder thus allowing condensation to form on the colder surface.
It's normal, but annoying.

On older double glazed windows the inner pane achieves the same temperature as the room, the heat slowly transmits to the sealed vacuum thus warming to some extent the outer pane but not by much. However that little bit of warmth stops condensation externally.

Oh thanks for the explanation - just got up this morning and can hardly see out our patio doors which we had put in last year. None of our other windows, which we've had longer, are as bad as this!

It's a cost v condensation issue.

K Glass costs more but saves you money in the long run. Condensation outside is the price to pay but it's only for a few Months of the year as it shouldn't happen on drier or warmer Winter days.
