It was hardly urgent with Christmas three months away and would wait until she had time to consider a reply ... she might be waiting to ring you to suggest something they'd like more and feel tojust text back no but what about x would be rude.

Personally It really annoys me when people get stressed over "slow"replies to non urgent tests ... my mobile is my servant , I am not it's slave . I reply to urgent stuff at once, less urgent stuff waits till have time. Of course what I consider non urgent may not be the same as the sender !

Actually it just sounds like you simply don't like her anyway.
Your right I don't like her very much however she is family and i believe that peace should be kept.
If someone was asking about buying my kids a gift. I would definitely reply because i am doing something nice...
but your right i get annoyed whan people don't reply i think it is rude it takes seconds..

Yup really rude.

When did you send the message, if it was more than a few days ago I would send another one asking her for an answer as you want to get them this weekend.

And at some point I think I would have to ask her what her problem was!

Sorry to clarify it is facebook messenger. As stated we don't have her phone numbers either house or mobile, we asked and told no correspondence through messenger would be better

I am guilty of this, I hear my phone ping, quickly check the message to make sure it's not an emergency then have full intentions of replying when I have a minute, then I forget 🙈🙈
I don't do it on purpose, I am dizzy running around after my children then thinking of what I need to get done, but, prepare dinner etc and end up forgetting about any text I have received.
I am a full time mum too

She doesn't work so that's not the issue and i get thta sometimes you might not be able to reply instantly but surely i could find the time that evening... and just to add i would always reply
Do you have kids ?
You messaged her at tea/bedtime , the busiest time of the day . She may have glanced at it thought l'll get to it later and forgot.
If this was only last night you sent it you are massively over reacting... if I sent my step daughter a message about presents for the kids I wouldn't expect an instant response as I know she's busy and three or four days this far off from Christmas would be fine.

Chill out, you've got three months you don't NEED to know this very moment or even day ... sometimes people are just busy. It isn't personal . (Even though you are taking it that way apparently)

I have to say, I often read messages fairly soon after they come through and think "I'll reply later" - but it could be anything between a couple of hours and a week before I remember. It's not that I'm rude, I'm just busy - maybe your SIL is too.

Swipe the message to the left and it will tell you what time it was delivered and read.

Then I too must be rude.

I will glance at a text and if I'm not busy and have time I will reply.

Most of the time I am busy and if it's not urgent I will ignore it to reply later, and then some of the time I will forget and it could be the day later or even the day after that before I reply, just because I may of read it doesn't mean I have to answer.

If it's that important (though Christmas is a way off yet) then call her on her mobile next week, you have the number as you have texted her and just say "As you haven't replied to my text I though I'd call to ask"
Give the poor woman a chance.
