Travel Day: Spinning Jenny - Manchester Airport All checked in and waiting for the boarding gate to be announced. We are killing some time in the Spinning Jenny which is a Wetherspoons type place. Pint of Symonds cider (£4.50) and a single Malibu and Diet Coke (£5.30).

Your food reports are always right up there with my faves so delighted to see a new one!
I'm totally with you on preferring the NY Street Alchemist to Spinningfields! |

Travel Day: Virgin Atlantic Inflight Meal We have just got checked in to the hard rock we arrived to rain, thunder & lightning. We had to circle the airport a few times because of bad weather so ended up arriving a bit later than expected. Anyway onto the flight food.. So here is the menu To start was the drinks service with the yummy pretzels. I asked for vodka orange and the attendant gave me two little glasses of orange because the little bottle was a double measure which I think was nice of her. For main meals - I had read a post from someone on here to avoid the mushroom pasta at all costs so we both went for the beef chilli melt. It was really nice to be honest. A nice spicy kick, plenty of beans and the wedges did actually taste like maple. We were pleasantly surprised. The tabbouleh salad was nice and fresh too. The bread roll cake with a butter pat or a small sachet of Boursin which we love so was welcome. The roll was a bit hard though. Dessert was awesome! It tasted like cheesecake in a pot. Yum A little while later came the Fab ice lollies. Then afternoon tea was a cheese and pickle sandwich with salt, black pepper & lemon "plane crisps", a chocolate ganache bar and a little lemon mint that tasted like Jif (sorry Cif). Ew. I enjoyed all of this again Overall two thumbs up for the food! Edited at 05:32 PM. |

Travel Day: Velvet Lounge - Hard Rock Hotel On the way out to dinner it would be rude not to stop by the Velvet Lounge which is just off the hotel lobby and also has a really cool balcony overlooking the beautiful pool. My favourite was off the menu *cry* so I chose a Sugar In Your Gas Tank ($14). It was different than I was expecting and instead of being tart and orangey the Creme de Cacao (white chocolate liquer) made it taste ever so slightly like the orange truffle Baileys. If was nice but a bit expensive, they do a cheap deal on a certain "drink of the day" each day so look out for that. Andy had an Angry Orachard on tap so no picture. Can't remember how much this was but I have the receipt somewhere so I'll add later.
