He loves planes and has always dreamed of being able to fly so I think he was upset that the old pc was so slow as it affected the quality of his experience which is why he asked for a gaming pc for Christmas.

I guess what I really want to know is whether a normal, brand new pc would be ok?

Thanks everyone for your help so far.👍
In my opinion and from personal experience as both my boys play flight sim with a joystick yes a decent modern desktop ideally or laptop as mine have used laptops will be fine for now and will save you a good £200 compared to a dedicated gaming one.

Mine play far more advanced games than flight sim on their laptops

so guess im saying get ready to start getting some big bills as they get older lol

seriously we always go to a local store and they custom build them for him ... this years is an extream gaming set up but I know they start there normal gaming ones from around £700ish and they are good .. defo worth going somewhere like this rather than PC world.

I’ve had a look at the spec of the game and it does look pretty basic so I think you will probably be right.

Hi Please do not buy from PC world they won't give you a good PC they will overcharge and will probably not give you a decent graphics card.

I 2nd using overclockers.co.uk build quality of my dad's workstation was great and the price is competitive while not being the cheapest they won't put any old rubbish in their PCs.

They have great range or you can compose your own for your budget.

I have MS flight sim X and it uses more CPU power than graphics card power so the faster your CPU the better.

Thank you. That's really useful to know.

We live a few mins awa6 from overclockers and they are fantastic and agree of going for a dedicated gaming route they are the better choice than PC World if you prepared to spend the money on the gaming route.
To be honest that’s the minimum I’d spend on any PC I plan to play games on

To be honest any modern PC should be able to run that so my consideration would be is it likely to be used for anything other games.

If yes then go for a dedicated gaming PC. It's worth noting that if you get a non-gaming desktop you can upgrade the graphics card later on if you change your mind.
