Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to push them in, although after a few retries they are usually fine. It's possible there may be a fault on the laptop? Have you tried connecting any other USB devices?

Thank you so much, I managed to get my Apple charger in and then the other USB's went in, still hard to get them in but they are there.

I have a HP Lappy, and on first use the USB ports are pretty tough to get connections in. Seems to get better with use. All my several usb devices connect fine now.

Those USB ports can be a bit stiff.
