May 2019

Hi all. We’re thinking of booking to go again in May 2019. We last went in May 2017. We managed to get caught up in Gradventure in Universal so the parks were crazy busy.
Can anyone recommend the best time in May to go to avoid stuff like Gradventure?
Thanks in advance.

What dates are Gradventure? We went to Universal last year in May from the 21-26 and it was lovely and quiet! Most rides were walk ons a lot of the time.

Earlier is always better in May, you will always have the groups, but they seem less in early May, and you avoid Memorial Day which is the last Monday in May

We were there April 24th - May 12th last year and it was great. We did Universal on the 4th which was the first gradventure date and found the parks fine! We did leave by 4pm to go back to Disney though. They are only on for 3 nights. I’d still recommend you do as early in May as possible but maybe different parks on the 3 gradventure evenings.

I forgot about these. We knew nothing about them and tried to get into park last year for the evening only to be turned away. We got stuck in resort bus for around 45 minutes near the entrance trying to get in, it was mayhem. These seem to take place on Fridays from 7pm but they have the option of early entry into Universal Studios from 4pm. We've booked for next year at RPR for 2 nights and one is a Friday. Annoying. Just have to make the most of the day and do IOA on the Friday.

Edited at 12:35 PM.

They were Thursdays last year, the 4th/11th/18th May and the daytime should be ok. The event is 7pm-midnight.
