The Florida Project

I went to see The Florida Project last night and found it incredible. It's a very telling story about impoverishment and desperation on the periphery of Walt Disney World, all set in the Magic Castle Inn and Suites on the 192 - I saw so much that I recognised around the area. The acting was also outstanding, especially from the 6 year-old (now 7) playing the lead character. Willem Dafoe was also very good.

If you think you may enjoy it and you get the chance to watch it, I would highly recommend it!

I would love to see it. We live very near to where it is set. My daughters go to schools with children in this situation. It is a very transient population as well. Their schools are very big and are constantly enrolling new students throughout the year. They have also had a huge number of new students fleeing the devastation in Puerto Rico. The schools here never turn students away because they are "fully subscribed " like in the UK. If you can prove you have moved to the catchment area you are entitled to a place. They even have special exceptions for homeless children in temporary accommodation. There are plenty of jobs here but sadly not that many well paid ones.

Heard about this on Radio 4 film programme last night. The presenter kept saying it was set 'in the shadow of Florida's Disneyland' which had me shouting at the radio!

I saw it a couple of weeks ago, my friend got free tickets for an advance screening.
I really enjoyed it. What did you think of the ending?

Quite an eye opener of what goes on right outside the bubble of Disney, I really enjoyed it and yes great acting from the leading little girl . Without spoiling it I was satisfied with the ending too.

I really want to see this but it doesn't seem to be in many local cinemas here, will it have a larger release to more cinemas in the future do you reckon?

does anyone know, will it be released in DVD format?

if not, I may have to make plans to travel to a cinema further away to catch it

Dont want to post spoilers, but I thought it was quite abrupt, Im guessing we just make up our own conclusion.

But we do know what was happening at the end, it just got stalled a bit when the two girls did what they did and what they did is why the ending satisfied me
