USB Problems

I have just bought a new HP laptop with 3 x USB slots.2 scandisk memory sticks I have wont fit. They fit fine in my old HP. Any ideas?

photos of the ports and sticks would help?

..but at first guess, either the port on the hp you're trying or the memory stick may be the newer USB-C which doesnt fit into the old USB-A without an adapter. Sometimes you'll find both types on a laptop these days.

Are you shore they are usb and not hdmi or another port?

The 1st is a hdmi not USB

Yeah the 2 on the right are the USB and there is another on the other side of the laptop. The specs also confirm there are 3 USB's ?

that all looks fine tbh, I guess you've tried both ways up to make sure theyre not upside down.

What does it feel like when you try? like they go a little bit but not far enough or they're too big to even start or?

Yeah tried both ways, they feel like they are going to go in but don't.

I've just had a new laptop and have been told it's one side for usb1.0 and the other for usb 2.0.

usb are a standard fitting, and the male and female parts look like they fit.
