New York Hotels - Help please!

Hi all, I've got our flights booked but need to book a hotel, I've been searching for days and I'm trying to find the right price in the right location that preferably hasn't been on the Bed Bug Register! (Sorry but I'm more than a little paranoid about that one!) So I'm looking at midtown, a favourite is possibly the 'Westin Grand Central' or 'The Conrad' near World Trade Centre area. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed at either of these hotels? If not can you recommend a good 4 or 5* near 5th Avenue and Central Park? Many thanks.

Hi, yes sorry for confusion, I’m looking at midtown but the prices and reviews for the Conrad are very tempting, it is out the way of the hustle and bustle and the NY experience but also has the advantage of being quieter and the Westfield Mall for eating and shops so I’m torn. The Omni is one of the ones I’ve looked at 😊

Stayed at the Westin Grand Central last June & no complaints at all. Great location, very clean, decent size rooms for New York. Bar did a ‘happy hour’ which was handy after a days walking and plenty of dining options but so does most of NYC. Staff very friendly.

Would stay there again so must have rated it.

Do NOT stay at the Ameritania near Central Park. Over priced for tiny, dark rooms.

Any of the Library Collection Hotels would be good.

We stayed at the Casablanca - couldn't fault it.

They often have specials

We stayed at The W on Union Square, beds were amazing really nice to sit out in the square and the watch the world go by, it is almost half way between the financial district and 5 th Avenue, we walked everywhere so about 40 mins either way.

We stayed at Shellburne affinia last Easter, was a beautiful hotel in perfect location. A few blocks from Grand Central and Empire State building. Had amazing rooftop bar with breathtaking views. Our room was very spacious with a view of Empire State building. We would definitely return.

Oooh the Westin is the one I keep coming back to! I've read mainly good reviews, some bad, like about lifts always being full and staff being rude? Can I ask how near it is to 5th Avenue and Times Square? Also are there any quick food places nearby like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts to get breakfast? Many thanks

We stayed at the Distrikt Hotel. Good midtown location a few blocks from Times Square. Next to the Port Authority Bus Terminal with Metro so good transport links. Would be happy to stay there again.
