I’ve used Photobucket for a while but never very happy with it. It will be interesting to see what other Dibbers recommend.

I use google photos. Photos instantly upload as long as you are in a data/WiFi enabled area and have an Android phone or IPhone App. Can view, share, edit and delete via your phone or online.

I'm 72 so am I allowed to say that I don't know what photo hosting sites are?
Just save all ours whether they are from a camera, phone or tablet to our cloud account. Can access and edit easily. Mick

I've used Flickr in the past. The photos in some of my trip reports are hosted on Flickr.
For photo back-ups (which is a different thing) I use an external, separate hard drive and DropBox. Plus a lot of my photos are on iCloud.

I was hit by the curse of Photobucket. Certainly wasn't going to pay several hundred dollars to them so I could post them somewhere. So I currently have them all on my PC and will put them on disks.
I've uploaded all the ones for my trip reports using the Dibb's own system, it was easy.

If you want to post the photos on The Dibb - it is available as a free upload and display basis - dead easy to do.
Before this was available, I used photobucket ( it has a different name in our household now!) They offered to host photos up to so many GB , until they then decided that they would not host them for sharing on a 3rd party site - hence my original trip reports now have a greyed out square To allow them to show the photos they started at $300 per annum to host. My last email from them has this down to $99 and I will not budge on such a extortion attempt. Extortion is the only way I can describe it. I just need to find the time to replace MY photos into my own trip reports and finally close my account with them. Lesson learned though, as no matter how much cloud back up you have, you remain in the hands of someone who will want to see how much your photos are worth to you at some point in the future I have a lot/ far too many photos, too many to back up all to free back up places. So I have three external hard drives that are backed up and then stored in different places (not just all at home- just in case) Sounds stupid but I came so close to losing all my photos stored on my computer a couple of years ago

I have my phone set to automatically upload everything to google photos as a backup.
For trip reports I post them to my Blog and link back to the blog. That way I’m in control of where the photos are hosted and I find it easier than attaching them all to a post. |
