That makes sense. However on top of the 'local' price you will have to add State Tax at 6%. A 10% airport user fee, enviromental disposal fee ref tires & batteries. Plus is SLI/EP included or just CDW?
In the end I bet both prices come very close. We can help you ref this if you give your travel dates and desired size car.

We are arriving on the 28th April and come home on 12th May. It says we will be allocated a standard car on arrival suggesting a Ford Fusion or similar.
I was surprised they didn’t try to upsell last time they just went through the motions and took us to our car... Edited to say we would like a suv like the Hyundai Santa Fe size Edited at 05:16 PM. |

We've been given a "free" car with TUI for our trip in May. 3 adults 1 child.
Apparently it's an Economy i.e Chevrolet Aveo which is tiny, I've been on the phone for 2 hours and 3 different calls trying to upgrade my car to one that fits more than 1 suitcase. I finally got them to agree to a Ford Fusion (Mondeo) or Ford Escape (SUV), couldn't get it in writing and they wouldn't give me an Alamo ref no. To upgrade the insurance with TUI costs about £400-£500! , so I shall just buy the insurance via Money Maxim for £45 instead. I was originally going to scrap the free car and hire separately, but will just get the insurance separately now. Feel exhausted, but happy that I won't be ripped off. |

I’m not familiar with Money Maxim but if you have independent insurance be prepared to leave a large deposit.

It’s such a mine field isn’t it? Like you I don’t want to pay over the odds for insurance but on the other hand we wnat to be covered for all potential issues!
I wouldn’t feel comfortable getting insurance from the company you have mentioned because this is all completely alien to us and we are obviously clueless 😄 makes me wonder how many people turn up at Alamo and have a massive shock at the cost |
