Travel insurance

6th trip and I still don’t know what I’m doing !
Will £5000,000 be enough for medical cover ? Looking to buy insurance and there is a huge difference between 5 and 10 million. Seems a lot but have heard horror stories and want to have the right cover just in case .
Many thanks.

The honest answer is no-one knows, it most likely will be but what happens if it isn't?

Insurance is essentially weighing up the likelihood of a risk and then paying something to mitigate the potential loss.

In most cases 5m would be fine but I have no way of knowing if that would be the case if you ended up in an emergency, in the same way 10m might not be enough in some circumstances (although I can't think of any)

I think it depends on personal circumstances. If I was 25 and in perfect health I would opt for £5 million. Being an old fart I would want £10 million

How old and how healthy are you? I'm 54 and have a few pre-existing medical conditions so have opted for £10 million. One of my conditions has a common complication which landed me in hospital hooked up to IV antibiotics the first time I got it so I'm taking no chances.

I have always gone for 10 million, we have quite a few health issues and thought it would be more sensible, for us.

just done ours £77 for a annual policy ( cheaper than 24 days we needed ) with Gadgets included

cannot moan about that to be honest, its 10 mill aswell

though all the trips we have made, never needed it for anything ( well apart from a lost buggy and they just sent out a £100 payment without any bother )

Oh I wish I could find a policy that that.

Fortunately I’m fit and healthy, hubby suffers migraine and blood pressure ( although it’s never a prob and changed in years we still declare

UNFORTUNATELY we are both just passed the 70 mark and insurance rockets ! Some people can book a city break abroad cheaper than the cost we silver surfers have to pay
