The 10 year anniversary trip 2 years too - Updated 26/7

Welcome to my (our) PTR

When we had our 10th wedding anniversary we planned on going to Disneyland and Hawaii to celebrate. However due to needing a new boiler, new car and generally being poor we couldn't afford to go.

Fast forward to our 12th Anniversary and we will finally be going on our dream holiday

There will be just 2 of us;
Me - Caroline - 33 (34 in August)
DH - John - 44
And on the 16th sept we will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. Have I mentioned that yet ;-)

The plan was to fly to LAX, stay at Disneyland for a few nights then head off to Oahu. However as the booking windows approached the plans changed and the final itinerary has now been decided.

Monday 14th sept - fly to LAX (Virgin Atlantic)
Check in to the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland for 6 nights.
Sunday 20th fly to Kona on the big Island for 4 nights
Thursday 24th sept fly to Oahu and check in to Aulani for 8 nights
1st October fly back to LA, then home to Heathrow.

I will update things as/when booked but in the meantime thanks for reading.

UPDATE - 26/7

Well it’s been a while since I started this! Nothing much has happened in the meantime until the past week where suddenly a flurry of activity has happened.

First off Virgin moved our flight back by 4.5 hours on the way out which annoyed as massively as on travel day you just want to get there right? I also feel cheated out of a half day in Disneyland... but never mind. So we now depart Heathrow at 3.45pm. On a plus side it has saved us money on an airport hotel the night before!

So moving on from that issue...

We are still patiently waiting for Disneyland to release the park hours for sept... I can't believe how slow they are at doing this! We are planning on doing the Walk in Walt’s footsteps tour on our anniversary and then having a nice meal at Steakhouse 55. Tours can't be booked until 60 days out either and I am getting impatient.

Hawaii is coming together and we have now booked the following trips;

Hawaii (Main Island)
Mauna Kea Summit tour - was expensive but I've thrown caution to the wind and booked it! (much to Hubby’s disgrace who has been telling me for weeks we can drive ourselves).
Three Ring Ranch - tour of a private zoo.

Oahu
Pearl Harbour
Kualoa Ranch Tour
Scuba Diving Trip
Waikiki Trolley Tours 7 day tickets also booked.

Let’s see... what else...

I’ve got some new holiday clothes for both of us, got a new handbag for the trip, got the sun cream this week also. I got hubby an underwater camera to use on the scuba diving trip thing above... just bits and pieces like that.

Trip aside, 8 weeks ago I left my job of 13 years and started at a much smaller company - so far so good... nice salary increase has meant that I’ve also booked an Alaskan cruise for May 16... stay tuned for that report.

Ooh exciting!

I am currently being hugely indecisive as to whether I want to do a West Coast road trip, or San Fran/Hawaii/San Diego/Anaheim. So I will be following with interest

You are doing a similar trip to us (we also have 6 nights at Grand Californian and 8 nights in Aulani in August)

Funnily enough, ours is to celebrate our 40th birthdays, but by the time we get there we'll both be 41!
