Super Cali Alaska Frisco Silver Wedding Alidocious!

Just 3 days to go before we set off on our trip to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary! The anniversary was in May but since then I've done the London Moonwalk and we've been away to a family wedding so things have been a bit hectic in the Thomas household!

This is going to be our first holiday without the kids (now aged 22 and 19! ) apart from weekends away and is going to be a bit weird with just me and DH - but I'm sure we'll get used to it!

So - here's the plan:

1st June - Drive to Holiday Inn Heathrow and stay there the night.

2nd June - Drop off car at Terminal 3 and head to Virgin Upper Class Lounge (). Fly UC to SFO and stay the night at the SFO Hilton Hotel (booked through Hotwire)

3rd June - Pick up an Intermediate SUV from Dollar and drive to Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal, Yosemite for 3 nights. Unfortunately the high roads are still closed due to snow so we won't be able to go to Glacier Point or Tuloume Meadows

4th and 5th June - Explore Yosemite - hopefully by bike for 1 day

6th June - Drive to SF and drop car off at Fisherman's Wharf in afternoon. 3 nights in Radisson Fisherman's Wharf

7th and 8th June - Explore Fisherman's Wharf area and Sausalito and places we missed out on on our last trip.

9th - 19th June - Embark the Sea Princess for a 10 day cruise though the Inside Passage - Alaska visiting Glacier Bay and:

Haines - Eagle Preserve visit by Jet Boat
Juneau - Mendenhall Glacier river rafting trip
Ketchikan - Bear Creek Zipline Adventure
Victoria - nothing planned - only there for the morning

19th June - Disembark in the morning and get taxi to Donatello Hotel Union Square for 2 nights. Explore Chinatown in the afternoon.

20th June - SHOPPING! and Cheesecake Factory

21st June - Leave hotel early enough to enjoy facilities in Virgin's UC room in SFO then fly home ... on a bed!

22nd June - Arrive in LHR in the afternoon, pick up car and drive home

We've been to SF and Yosemite 3 years ago and did Alcatraz then - but only had a day in Yosemite as there were fires at the time and it was quite smokey.

Also - this is the first time that we've been to America and not gone to a Disney Park! Thank goodness for the Disney museum in SF!

In the middle of packing now - with I could wave a magic wand!

Hope you have a fantastic time, we too went to Yosemite in 2009 but a week after the fires, and it still smelt of smoke. Hope you get loads of lovely photos, you never know they may open the passes up. Looking forward to lots of piccies and have a wonderful belated anniversary

We were there at that time too and all our photos are hazy because of the smoke that was lingering. Fingers crossed about opening the road but I think we'll have to go again!

This is going to be a fantastic trip!

Please do post and let us know what you think of the Yosemite View Lodge (we are staying here for two nights in July). I am expecting basic, but it was rather expensive!

I am also planning on the Disney Family Museum, so any feedback from your visit there would also be appreciated

Have a smashing time
