Ever fancied doing some water skiing, well DW has ever since I met her and we never got around to doing anything about it. So as a surprise for DW on our last holiday to WDW I found a great place that do water sports and weren't expensive.
Now DW had never tried water skiing, and if you've ever tried it you know it can be difficult to start. Well, Dave's Ski School, at the center is a great place to learn. Dave has a special way of teaching people to Ski, basically he has an over sized ski and you both go out on the water together and you are riding on his ski whilst he is holding on to you. Then as you gain confidence he gently removes his ski from under yours and your skiing on your own. DW and DD(12) both decided they would do the skiing and I'd seen a package on their website bvwatersports/ Watersport Adventure, it included 1Hour of lessons, tube rides around the lake and an hour on one of their Jet Ski's it's currently $55 per person for the package. Once we had arrived, the staff were very friendly and soon DW and DD were kitted out in Wet Suits and were on the beach having some dry lessons from dave. 15 mins later they were on lake Skiing. By the second circuit of the lake DW was skiing on her own, it took about 3 circuits before DD would let go of dave. After the skiing they were taken for a relaxing (not) ride on the tubes then they were let loose with the Jet Skis. It cost $103 for the both of them, they were there for 3 hours and to see the smiles on their faces was worth every dollar. So if your lost for something to do for a morning and fancy doing something different, I can highly recommend this place. It's on the 535 not far from Crossroads.

Wow Stu - that looks brilliant.
I tried waterskiing many years ago - no proper instructor, just a friend who could ski tried to teach me - it was really hard and I never managed to stand up. Before the day was over, we ended up at the hospital as one of the group was hit in the head with a water ski - so I have never been that keen to try again. This technique of actually skiing with the instructor looks really good - it would give you loads more confidence to know the guy was right there holding on to you. Thanks for the link Bev |

The four of us went to Dave's Ski School on our first visit in 1992 - Thompson sold it as a trip.
It was brilliant we all managed to ski on our own (somewhat briefly) and the rings are fun. Got the photos to prove it and the tee-shirt! Highly recommended. |
