Flying from Dublin you will get the Pre Clearance Security checks and when you arrive in Charlotte you will arrive as a domestic passenger.
Those indirect flights are a killer, you need to check the flight details carefully for the Charlotte to LAX part. Check the length of time between flights as you could have a very short or very long time. I have timed it with the direct Dublin to LAX flight. With a direct flight its about 16 hours travel time from the time I leave my house to the time I check in at the hotel. With an indirect you are looking at about 24 hours travel time, depending on your travel time to Dublin airport. I live about 1 hour from Dublin airport 3 hours before flight departure 10 hours flying time 2 hours after flight lands to check in at hotel. |

I'm debating the exact same thing ! Have been looking at LHR - LAX with BA. It looks like they have a flexible offer though in which you can cancel and get voucher / or amend FOC. I believe this only includes departures up til April 2021 though and I'm looking at Feb & March.

yes we are def taking it all into account
we live 10mins from dublin airport. we check in 4 hours before flight (love the airport) and 2.5 hours in charlotte i think i saw delta ones too for JFK you get out at one gate and turn to get on at the new gate. takes prob 20 mins lol - we did it for vegas (gave ourselves a 3 hour window though and watched united game ) that flight was more expensive but not by much. it was with tour america so i could not see how much would be for comfort plus on it thanks for all the advice though - you are fab with the info
