We loved St Augustine and stayed as part of a road trip at the Penny Farthing Inn - highly recommended with amazing breakfasts!

We didn't get the trolley as we found it easy enough to walk everywhere. We loved the fort, the architecture and the brewery tour! Also an amazing ghost walk if you're into that sort of thing - best we've ever done and non theatrical.

Full trip report in signature. Feel free to ask questions!

We visited St Augustine in September 2019. We stayed at Victorian House on Cadiz St. it was lovely and quaint and our room was spotless, just a short walk away from everything. Had our lunch at the Alcazar Hotel in the old swimming pool. Took a trolley tour and visited the old town. Early evening we went on a sailing tour on a schooner round the area it was so lovely. Finished off with a great meal at a local restaurant. Next day we did a tour of Flagler College. All the old buildings are fabulous. St Augustine is well worth a visit.

We've been to St. Augustine twice. First time we stayed at the St. Francis Inn (?), but no ghosts were seen... thankfully! It was nicely situated, next to the school house or something like that, if I remember correctly.

Next time we booked an AirBnB, which was fantastic, right in the centre of everything. Its not a large town, but there are lots of things to interest and loads of places to eat and drink. Night life is quite vibrant with a real hippy feel to it. I got the impression that some hippies arrived in the 60s and 70s and never left!

Personally, I would choose to stay in the town and visit the beaches rather than the other way around.

We stayed there for a couple of nights, it was a nice place with loads to do.

We took a ride to Clark’s fish camp for dinner, it’s a short ride further north, well worth trying if you fancy something very very different!

Thanks! When I spoke to the travel agent about it, he said that in 20 years of being an agent he’d never booked a hotel in St Augustine! He really questioned my choice but then obviously was looking at it as we spoke and ended up agreeing that it did look lovely! Just waiting on quote to amend our booking now!

The place was settle pre the Pilgrims and fought over by the Spanish and English which is why the Fort is there.

Surprised to see someone else on here who has been to Clarks. Our friends live fairly close so we have been there a few times, even though we are not fish eaters.

The Call of the Wild Appetisers are, as you say, very different to your average starter.

Our friend's father won't go back as he gets really spooked by all the stuffed animals there although they do look very strange when dressed for Halloween.

Did two nights in St Augustine in our 2018 hols - absolutely loved it, such a change of pace from the Mouse.

Historic District is great to lose yourself for a wander, and the distillery and winery make for good tours.

We stayed in the Bayfront Inn, which is just on the edge of the Old Town. Lovely place and great location, perhaps the décor a bit tired.
