Red Tide in Clearwater ☹

Lots of dead fish washing up here. Around the Pier earlier could see them floating around in the waves. Won't be swimming this trip! Seagulls happy, locals not so.Anyway everything else is perfect especially this weather, roll on another glorious sunset. "Where's the peg for my nose!" (Actually smell not so bad)

Yes, a real shame; we're down the road from you in Indian Shores; red tide arrived here around a week ago; our pool is Bayfront rather than beachfront so sitting by the pool is ok.
However, the smell is very strong on the beach inducing coughing & across the street it is still noticeable.

We were there (Sarasota/Venice area) in Aug and it was bad. We drove down to Naples and the beach and sea were clear. We did shower after swimming in the sea though!

We'll need to keep an eye on this as we are staying a bit further down the coast at Fort Myers Beach soon.

I did just look at this visitbeaches/ which has helpful up to date info for the Gulf beach areas

The Wink news report showed Fort Myers beaches as being red this morning.

We were there last week. There were lots of dead fish and a bad smell at Treasure Island but Clearwater was ok. Looks like it’s moving up the coast

On the visitbeaches/ site, Clearwater is still reported as Clear.

It is worth reading through the mega thread on this it started off in relation to Sanibel but has expanded
