Just got a phone call from our guide. We asked a few more questions and we've finally settled on:

212 points at Beach club villas
Pre-opening purchase incentive of $5 per point means we get the points at $70.
Total cost $14,840

Annual dues will be $798.83. That will be due in January and we have to pay a half year when the BC opens June/July.

We'll be banking this years points so we can have a nice holiday next year. If my boss will let me have the time off, I'd really like to have the first two weeks in December, at the BC of course, as I've not seen the xmas decorations before and I'd love to do Mickey's xmas party. We'd have sufficient points next year to maybe tag a cruise onto it as well.

We've decided on a use year of June, on the advice given here and by our guide. This means that we can still bank the points should our Oct/Nov plans fall through. The advice given on these boards, that you don't need the points in your hand when you actually make the booking, is correct.

Thanks to all who've patiently answered our questions.

I'm very excited now
.

wow - that's fantastic news!

Can I ask one question though,  why 212 points?  Does that get you enough points for an extra night or something like that?  just curious because most people seem to go with a nice round number.

One week at the BC for the weeks we'd normally go is 106 points. We could go for 13 nights or borrow/bank but for the sake of a few dollars we thought we might as well go for the 212.
Some years we'll probably do something else with the points but it's so flexible, that won't be a problem.

Still excited
